From just outside of Richmond, Virginia, Leah is living to raise a standard of Godly excellence and zero compromise for her generation. A 2011 graduate of Faith Landmarks Bible Institute's 3rd year program and the University of Richmond's class of 2005, she holds a Bachelor's in History. In 2009, she earned her Master's in Journalism through Regent University.

Her career has taken her from various areas of multimedia and creativity. She started off in media, publications, and the web, moved on to work as a freelance editor and copywriter, and then to publishing as an editorial assistant.

Leah attends Faith Landmarks Ministries under Pastors Randy and Cherie Gilbert, where she volunteers in the youth ministry, Solid Rock Youth, on the worship and Word teams, as well as in all areas of media.

With a creative spirit, Leah has a passion for the arts. She enjoys writing, music, poetry, and photography. Writing is her God-given passion and flows freely from her spirit. She spends her spare time with close friends, playing tennis, reading, learning about other cultures, and discovering new places through travel.

Her travels have taken her across the nation and around the world. From Florida to California and places in between, Leah has vacationed to exciting cities and beautiful beaches throughout the United States. Not only that, but her passport is stamped with her travels to exotic lands, such as Trinidad, Africa, the Carribean, and more. She uses these opportunities of travel to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world. Most recently, she has traveled to Israel, Guatemala, Liberia, and El Salvador.

Leah's first book was released in 2010. She is an aspiring author, who plans to release works on Christian living, poetry, and devotionals to inspire and encourage the spirit. A few of her poems have been published in anthology series, and she has also contributed to research encyclopedias on various topics.

Leah also enjoys spending time and doing ministry activities with her husband, Kenny.

The Hobbs Story
How it all Began

Kenny and Leah's worlds started to come together around the Fall of 2007 during their interactions at church. Leah noticed that Kenny had a genuine fire for God, but didn't think too much more about him. Kenny thought Leah was a little weird. It was in a very unusual way, through an encounter with the Holy Ghost in the wee hours late one Saturday night in early March 2008, that Kenny learned of the plan that God had for the two of them to come together. That Sunday night after church, Kenny followed Leah to her car and told her that he wanted to get to know her because he thought she had a beautiful spirit. The following Wednesday they went to Barnes and Noble after church and chatted comfortably until closing.

sLet's Get Serious

Memorial Day weekend, Kenny took Leah to a lake near their friends' house to talk. He told her that if he was going to do this thing, then he was going to do it all the way. He wanted to know how serious she was. Leah was serious too, and she knew there was the potential for God's plan to unfold if they just followed the leading of the Holy Spirit. So Kenny and Leah prayed together that the Holy Spirit would be at the center of their relationship and guide them each step of the way. It was then that one could say it became official.

The Proposals

God blessed Kenny with a beautiful engagement ring. He called Leah the day he got the ring, October 2nd, and said he was coming over so she could put his old glasses on Craig's List. He got to the house, handed Leah the glasses case, and said “Why don't you open the case so you can see what kind of picture you need to take?” As Leah opened the case, there weren't any glasses in there, but there was another box and a note in the top of the case. Leah was so confused. She saw that the note said, “I love you,” but it took her a second to read the rest—“Will you marry me?” Finally, she opened the box and saw the engagement ring. She started squeling over and over again, “Are you serious?” And of course, Kenny replied, “Yeah, will you marry me?” Finally, Leah said yes!

hThe Wedding

The wedding took place September 12, 2009 at Faith Landmarks Ministries, officiated by Pastor Randy Gilbert. From beginning to end, the ceremony was beautiful and anointed. Charlotte and Coleen opened the ceremony with a powerful rendition of "Always Welcome," as Darius and Stephen gracefully lighted the candles. Perhaps the most important part of the ceremony for Leah and Kenny was to have their dads escort Pastor Cherie in to light the mothers' candles. Then entered the handsome groom with Pastor and his best man, Chuck, followed by the rest of the wedding party—Ivana, Rebekah, Keturah, Melina, Sharda, Alexis, Donte, Scott, Demetrius, Rayshawn, and Justin. As Charlotte sang "Friend," the bride made her grand entrance. After taking communion as one, Mary and Kim sang "Use Me," a song defining the purpose of this union. Sharda and Takisha wrapped things up with "Swept Away" after the lighting of the unity candle. As husband and wife, Kenny and Leah partied out and back down the aisle to "All Hail the King of Glory." The reception was held at the historic Hanover Tavern and the couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Williamsburg.

Poised for Purpose

Kenny and Leah are excited about what lies ahead of them and the plan of God for their lives. They recently completed Faith Landmarks Bible Institute's 3rd year ministerial preparation program together, and they also serve together in Solid Rock Youth. They participate in overseas missions trips and crusades through their church, FLM. God is raising them up as leaders in the Body of Christ for this next generation.
